Boot It has to be the best laptop I have ever seen. Its features and performance is everything you will need for school, work, or at home. I recommend this laptop to everyone.

Boris I purchased this one from B&H about 6 months ago (may be little less). The laptop is very well built. I mean it, it is really high class device and been system specialist for over 20 years, I know what I'm talking about. It is surprisingly not heavy for such huge screen, much lighter and portable than Toshiba Satellite of the same screen size that I have. The keyboard is very good!. The sleek profile, allows typing for prolonged periods of time with absolutely no fatigue. The screen of very fine design and easy on eyes. HP bundles with this one their own "shell" software which all useful and nice, not a collection of branded junk as it often happened before. This laptop has very nice sound system, very cool controls (sensory, lighten), great trackpad, very well adjusted and logical. The wifi performance on this one is exemplary.The laptop is super quiet, never runs hot, the battery was nice to us so far. I was reluctant buying a laptop that is not Apple, but to tell you the truth, I am greatly disappointed in quality of Apple's laptops. I own small business, and all my production runs on MacPro (also from B&H), and I currently own 3 Apple's laptops. Granted, they are of older generation, G4s, but man, they ALL are dead, and I mean DEAD, on batteries, have all kind of annoying "little issues" (from their feet failing away, to power adapters burning, to expensive, was [$] when new, having internal firmware battery dead and now refusing to boot). So I decided to try HP, because they have very good track record on my book. Well they do deserve to be called the best so far. I hope one day, Apple would allow licensing on certain models to HP, so we all could enjoy great OS along with the great hardware. To say Windows 7 is not terrible, but compared to OS X, it cumbersome, convoluted and ineffective.Hope it helps!

MsBlkALABAMA {Cons}

-Lacks lighted keyboard

-No blu-ray drive

-Heavy---You'll need a carryall---I ordered a nice one from HP $79/w/15% off--has metal coasters and plenty of storage

-Wish that the drive was slot loaded instead of tray loaded

{Pros}

-Subwoofer--ensures the best sound I've experienced on a Notebook--Altec Lansing Speakers w/SRS Premium Sound

-Blue-tooth

-17.3 Screen (1600x900)

-500 GB/7200 Hard drive

-Light scribe drive

-HP Logo lights up (Like the Apple Mac-Book)

-Great for business/personal use equally (Separate number keys)

-Remote control

-2.5GHz VISION Technology Premium from AMD with AMD Turion II Ultra Dual Core mobile processor M620

-ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4530 graphics, up to 2302MB graphics memory

-Great Desktop replacement---not suited for lots of mobile travel (About 7.7 lbs)

-Pricing reasonable (won me over though I set out to buy my 1st Sony Notebook Computer)

-Good web cam--very clear (Not sure of the specs)

-Good quality sounding built in Microphone

-8 Cell Battery (I have not put to the "use" test yet)

**Overall the pros outweigh the cons. I did not intend to buy a notebook computer so large, but as I insisted and realized I was non-negotiable about the sound/built in speakers, I ended up with this model to attain the "subwoofer". I've had this Computer for (1) week, I'm impressed.

In the past my experiences with HP Notebook Computers have been mixed, mostly on the downside. This experience is positive thus far. I also have recently had a positive experience with my HP 2133 Netbook (see my separate blog)*

Time will tell ALL*

tsandrews85 This is one of the worst laptops I have ever purchased, which is not surprising it's manufactured by HP.DON'T BUY HP PRODUCTSThe battery life is horrible.Buttons on the keyboard have stopped working.The screen is very dull and lacks color.[...].Iam going to try and return this product for a full refund.

Pop Game Queen This is a great machine for a reasonable price. The 17 inch display and clarity is one of its best features; just after how fast it runs. Since I purchased it for home use, its size and weight has no impact. However, if you are looking to travel with it, you may want something a bit smaller. Truth be told, I like it so much, I'd get a specialty backpack and haul it around!

Stacey the Speech Therapist I finally had it with my old laptop and after lots of research decided on the HP. I mainly use the laptop for e-mail, surfing the web, photographs and my son's video viewing. So far I am very pleased with all of the things that the HP does. It's user friendly and even though I have not yet picked up the book, I have been able to do all that I need. I wish it came loaded like my previous laptop....

lisa in mass. This computer's everything I need for multimedia viewing, web surfing and some database development. Fast processor, nice video. I have an intermittent sound problem, which HP moved to resolve immediately. The only detraction's the shiny finish on all parts of the computer. It comes with a cleaning cloth, but shows fingerprints from every touch. A minor point, but something they shouldn't have designed like this.

From Europe with love Excellent excellent screen. For a notebook LCD, the color clarity and range is just superb. The viewing range is also usable to almost 90 degrees to the left and right! LED backlit is just better than the older CCFL.

Cons: Every fingerprint, dust mite and smudge is 100% noticable ,but that way HP give some advice!!!

Minzar I have had my dv7-3160us for about two weeks now, and it is, without a doubt, a powerhouse for the casual gamer and audiophile. The ATI graphics are crisp and clean and play the latest games without any problems. The 500 Gb hard drive has more then enough storage for today's laptop user, and at 7200 RPM's is fast enough that you never have to wait for long. The dv7-3160us also has space for a second hard drive, should you desire to expand your storage capabilities. The included SRS WOW enhancement to the IDT audio control panel makes all the difference when recreating complex musical pieces while providing the accuracy needed to hear all the high and low point, making sound truly immersive. The dual headphone ports make it possible for you to share that sound with a friend as well. The headphone ports auto-detect when one, or both, of the headphone ports (or the HDMI port) havea connection, and sutomatically adjusts the sound output and balance to those devices.

If you are looking for a high-end gaming powerhouse look elsewhere. If you are looking for a laptop that will increase your entertainment experience, look no further.
